MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – A grim sentence was meted out today as Bradley Dewayne Bailey, 39, of Messer, Oklahoma, was sentenced to a mind-numbing 105 months in the slammer for two counts of Felon in Possession of Firearm. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has had its day in court, with Bailey now facing the reality of his actions.
The defendant, who had been convicted of a crime with a prison sentence exceeding one year, was found to have knowingly possessed firearms that were transported across state lines, violating Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(2).
The charges stem from an investigation spearheaded by the Hugo Police Department, the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. These agencies have been relentless in their pursuit of justice for the people of Oklahoma.
Presiding over the hearing was the Honorable Ronald A. White, a District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, located in Muskogee. Bailey’s fate is now sealed as he will remain behind bars until he can be transported to the federal facility where his sentence will be served without parole.
Representing the United States was Assistant United States Attorney Dean Burris, who stood firm against the defendant and argued for the stiff sentence that was ultimately handed down.
This is a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who flout the law with such grave disregard. The message is clear: if you choose to carry firearms without authority, there will be a heavy price to pay.
