Harold Edward Staples, III, Methamphetamine Conspiracy, Oklahoma 2024

Tulsa, Okla. – In a shocking turn of events, a superseding indictment has been returned against four men, including Harold Edward Staples, III, and his son, Christopher Dean Staples, for their alleged involvement in a massive methamphetamine conspiracy.

According to United States Attorney Danny C. Williams Sr., the defendants, which also include Buel Dean Hamilton, 61, of Tulsa, and T.J. Cain, 41, of Stillwell, are accused of conspiring to distribute more than 50 grams of pure methamphetamine.

The indictment also charges Harold Staples, 59, with firearms violations, including illegal possession of machine guns, possession of unregistered silencers and a sawed-off rifle, and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

If convicted, the defendants could face a mandatory minimum of ten years imprisonment up to a maximum of life imprisonment. Harold Staples would face additional charges with a minimum of 25 years imprisonment up to a maximum of life imprisonment.

As part of the indictment, the U.S. Government seeks to forfeit four parcels of real property and over one hundred firearms, including machine guns, silencers and assault rifles.

A Grand Jury Indictment is one method of charging a defendant with alleged violations of Federal Law, which must be proven in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt to overcome a defendant’s presumption of innocence.

Interestingly, the U.S. Government was made aware that Harold Staples died on the same day the superseding indictment was returned. However, the prosecution will continue against the remaining defendants.
