Sergio Uriel Munoz-Rodriguez, a 44-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to 5 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy in the Eastern District of Texas. The conspiracy, which operated in the Metroplex area, distributed at least 15 kilograms of methamphetamine. Munoz-Rodriguez, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant, III on March 31, 2026.
The investigation, which began in 2020, was led by federal agents who identified Munoz-Rodriguez as a key player in the conspiracy. It was also discovered that Munoz-Rodriguez was a citizen of Mexico and was illegally living in the United States.
The case is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative, a whole-of-government partnership dedicated to eliminating criminal cartels, foreign gangs, and transnational criminal organizations operating in the United States and abroad. The HSTF focuses on investigating and prosecuting crimes committed by these organizations, including child trafficking and other crimes involving children.
The sentencing of Munoz-Rodriguez is a significant blow to the methamphetamine trafficking trade in Eastern Texas. The HSTF will continue to work to identify, investigate, and prosecute individuals involved in these types of crimes, and to remove violent criminal aliens from the United States.
