Council Bluffs, Iowa – A high-stakes chase across Interstate 29 ended in a heavy sentence for George Madison Kitchen, IV, as the 46-year-old Kansas City meth kingpin was handed a 260-month federal prison term on April 11, 2024. His co-conspirator, Cardel Jordan Harris, aged 26, received a 120-month sentence after pleading guilty to the same charges.
According to court documents, Kitchen and Harris were transporting a cache of methamphetamine from Missouri to South Dakota when they were stopped for a traffic violation in July 2022. The encounter turned into a high-speed chase that saw the pair flee, throwing drugs out of the car window along the way. Law enforcement recovered distribution quantities of meth and cocaine.
After Kitchen’s escape attempt, he was tracked down and apprehended by multiple agencies, including the Council Bluffs Police Department, Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, Missouri Valley Police Department, Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Department, and the Southwest Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force.
In addition to his prison sentence, Kitchen faces a ten-year term of supervised release post-prison. Harris must serve five years under supervision. Parole is non-existent in the federal system.
United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal announced the sentencing, emphasizing the seriousness of drug trafficking and the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies involved in the case.
This high-profile bust serves as a stark reminder of the relentless pursuit of methamphetamine traffickers by Iowa’s law enforcement community.
