Michael Querry, Methamphetamine Distribution, Indiana 2024

In a move to crack down on the mounting methamphetamine problem in South Bend, Indiana, 52-year-old Michael Querry was sentenced to 144 months in prison, followed by 4 years of supervised release, for his role as a major methamphetamine distributor in the region.

Querry’s downfall was a result of a three-month sting operation in the spring and summer of 2023, in which he supplied methamphetamine to multiple individuals in the South Bend area. During this period, law enforcement was able to recover a staggering nearly a pound and a half of methamphetamine from Querry, as well as an additional five and one-half ounces from traffic stops.

The case was a result of a collaborative effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and local law enforcement agencies, including the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office and the Indiana State Police.

Assistant United States Attorney Katelan McKenzie Doyle led the prosecution of Querry, who pleaded guilty to the charges. The case was also part of a larger Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation, aimed at dismantling major drug trafficking operations.

OCDETF uses a multi-agency approach to target high-level drug traffickers and dismantle their networks. In this case, the operation was able to disrupt Querry’s methamphetamine distribution ring and bring him to justice.

Querry’s sentence serves as a warning to those involved in the trafficking of methamphetamine in the region. As the city continues to grapple with the effects of the opioid crisis, the sentencing of Querry sends a clear message that those responsible for perpetuating this scourge will be held accountable.

Querry’s case is a testament to the effectiveness of collaborative law enforcement efforts in combating organized crime. The sentencing of Querry is a significant victory for the people of South Bend and a reminder that justice will be served for those who engage in such egregious crimes.
