A Phoenix, AZ man has been sentenced to 140 months imprisonment and 5 years supervised release for distributing methamphetamine in Fort Wayne, IN. Daniel E. Lurye, 39, pleaded guilty to the charges in a federal court on April 21, 2016.
According to court documents, on or about April 4, 2014, Lurye knowingly and intentionally distributed more than 50 grams of methamphetamine. This egregious crime has left a trail of devastation in its wake, affecting countless lives in the community.
The investigation into Lurye’s activities was conducted by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration and United States Postal Inspection Service, in collaboration with the Indiana State Police, LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, and Kendallville Police Department. This multi-agency effort demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement to tackling the scourge of methamphetamine trafficking.
Lurye’s case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lovita Morris-King, who successfully argued for a severe sentence to reflect the gravity of Lurye’s crimes. This outcome sends a clear message to would-be methamphetamine traffickers: the law will not hesitate to bring them to justice.
The community can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Lurye will be behind bars for the next 11.67 years. However, this sentence is also a reminder that the war on methamphetamine is far from over.
