Anthony Frederick Giaimis, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Louisiana 2012

Lake Charles, LA – A Westlake man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.

Anthony Frederick ‘Tony’ Giaimis, 48, was sentenced on Thursday by U.S. District Judge Patricia Minaldi to 262 months in prison and five years of supervised release for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine.

Giaimis was also found guilty of possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine and felony weapon possession, with prison and supervised release terms to be served concurrently.

According to witness testimony and evidence presented at trial, Giaimis obtained more than 80 ounces of methamphetamine from two men in the Houston area, which he sold to people living in and around Calcasieu Parish.

A search of the Bridge Point Yacht club, where Giaimis was living, turned up 14 firearms on January 6, 2012. Giaimis had previously been convicted of a felony in June 2011 in the 253rd District Court of Texas in Chambers County for possession with intent to deliver more than 200 grams of methamphetamine.

Giaimis’ co-defendants, Justin W. Brewer and Ricky Martinez, were also charged in the same indictment. Brewer was sentenced to 60 months in prison and five years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley praised the work of police, sheriff’s deputies, and federal agents who brought the defendants to justice. ‘It took the work of many to bring this drug distribution operation to an end,’ Finley stated.
