Arthur C. Hawkes, Methamphetamine Possession, Illinois 2015

Arthur C. Hawkes, a 45-year-old Granite City man, has been sentenced to 36 months in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine offense. Hawkes was arrested in April 2015 after police discovered two ounces of the illicit substance in his pants during a traffic stop.

According to court documents, Hawkes admitted to possessing the methamphetamine with the intention of selling it in the Granite City area. The estimated street value of the methamphetamine was $1,000. Hawkes was arrested and charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.

Hawkes pleaded guilty to the federal charge on January 29, 2016, and has been continuously confined in federal custody since May 2015. The case was investigated by the Granite City Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), under the auspices of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF).
