Niagara Woman Sentenced on Meth Charges
BUFFALO, N.Y.—A 46-year-old woman from the Town of Niagara has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for her role in a methamphetamine manufacturing operation.
U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara handed down the sentence to Roberta Hannon, who was convicted of conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine. Her husband, Jason Hannon, received a 63-month prison sentence, while her nephew Robert Gardiner was sentenced to 12 months and co-defendant Keith Crossley got 37 months.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Catherine Baumgarten, the arrests were made during the execution of a search warrant at a mobile home on Quain Place in the Town of Niagara on May 3, 2012. Hannon’s mobile home was searched and authorities seized a one-pot methamphetamine lab, precursor chemicals, and other evidence of the operation.
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Brian R. Crowell, Special Agent in Charge, New York Field Division, and the Niagara County Drug Task Force, under the direction of Sheriff James Votour.
The evidence against Hannon and her co-defendants included photographs of them engaged in drug-related activity found on a digital camera.
Hannon’s sentence is the latest chapter in a multi-defendant case that has seen several individuals behind bars. The convictions and sentences are a testament to the hard work and dedication of law enforcement agencies in the region.
The methamphetamine manufacturing operation was a recipe for disaster, and Hannon’s role in it has come to an end with her 12-month prison sentence.
