OMAHA, NEBRASKA – Claudia Isabel Cazerez-Quintero, 42, of Sinaloa, Mexico, is facing nearly two decades behind bars after being sentenced for her role in a significant methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. U.S. District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. handed down a 226-month sentence – 18 years and 10 months – on July 15, 2025, for both conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute. There’s no early release in the federal system, and Cazerez-Quintero will face a decade of supervised release after serving her time, followed by deportation back to Mexico.
This isn’t Cazerez-Quintero’s first rodeo with the federal justice system. She was already on supervised release for a 2017 conviction in Ohio for possession of 3 kilograms of heroin with intent to distribute. Judge Rossiter stacked an additional 30 months onto her current sentence for violating that supervised release, to be served concurrently with the 226-month term. The woman is a career criminal, plain and simple.
The bust began to unfold in December 2023, when a confidential informant arranged a buy of one pound of methamphetamine in Omaha. A courier, driving a Mazda, delivered 0.3849 kilograms of the drug for $3,000. Law enforcement tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex, “The Muse,” and identified the unit used by the courier. A second controlled buy on January 5, 2024, yielded another 481.05 grams of meth for $2,500, cementing the operation’s scale.
The investigation broadened on January 10, 2024, when surveillance near 27th and Hazel streets revealed Cazerez-Quintero arriving in the same Mazda at a known methamphetamine dealer’s residence. She made a brief visit before returning to The Muse apartments. Shortly after, the DEA raided the 27th and Hazel location, seizing three pounds of methamphetamine. The following day, law enforcement descended on the Muse apartment, finding Cazerez-Quintero and a staggering 56 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a dresser and backpack. They also confiscated $17,880 in cash.
Despite initially denying any knowledge of the drugs or money, Cazerez-Quintero admitted her clothing was present in the apartment. She also confessed to knowing the courier involved in the December and January buys. A search of her phone revealed damning evidence: photos of what appeared to be methamphetamine and text messages detailing drug trafficking activities, including coded references to the delivery at the 27th and Hazel address. The evidence was overwhelming.
The case was a joint effort between the Omaha Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. This conviction sends a clear message: bringing high-volume narcotics into Omaha won’t be tolerated. Cazerez-Quintero’s network, though disrupted, is likely still out there, and Grimy Times will continue to follow the fallout of this case.
