Meth Trafficker Sentenced in Alabama
A federal judge in Alabama has sentenced Paciano Rodriguez to 37 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.
According to court documents, Rodriguez offered to sell a confidential informant a large quantity of methamphetamine in March 2018. The informant and Rodriguez travelled to Bay Minette, Alabama, where Rodriguez was to deliver the methamphetamine to a buyer. However, he was arrested at the location with over 232.1 grams of the substance in his possession.
Rodriguez pleaded guilty to the charge on June 21, 2018, and was sentenced by United States District Court Judge William H. Steele on September 18, 2018.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and was prosecuted by Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDEFT) Lead Attorney, George F. May.
Rodriguez’s arrest and sentencing are a significant blow to the methamphetamine trafficking operation, which has plagued the community with its destructive effects.
The Southern District of Alabama’s U.S. Attorney, Richard W. Moore, praised the work of the investigators and prosecutors involved in the case, saying that their efforts have made the community safer.
Rodriguez’s 37-month sentence is a culmination of a long and thorough investigation, and serves as a reminder that those who engage in methamphetamine trafficking will be held accountable for their actions.
