Meth Trafficker Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison
SOUTH BEND – A 43-year-old South Bend man has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for his involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking operation. Teray Bush, 43, was found guilty of Interstate Travel in Aid of Racketeering and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Robert L. Miller, Jr.
According to documents in the case, in October 2017, Bush transported almost 2 pounds of methamphetamine from Michigan to Indiana as part of a plan to distribute it. This conviction marks the latest in a string of run-ins with the law for Bush, who has four prior felony convictions and two misdemeanor convictions.
Bush has a history of violating his parole and probation, having done so twice in the past. He also has 12 other contacts with the law, demonstrating a pattern of disregard for the law and a willingness to engage in illicit activities.
The investigation into Bush’s methamphetamine trafficking operation was conducted by the DEA with assistance from the Carmel Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer prosecuted the case, securing a 60-month prison sentence for Bush.
Following his release from prison, Bush will be subject to 3 years of supervised release. This sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in organized crime and the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies in preventing such activities.
U.S. Attorney Kirsch commended the DEA and the Carmel Police Department for their efforts in bringing this case to justice, stating that this sentence ‘sends a strong message that those who engage in organized crime will be held accountable.’
The case serves as a warning to those involved in methamphetamine trafficking that the law will be enforced and that those who engage in such activities will face severe consequences.
