Edwin Mack Taylor, Methamphetamine Distribution, West Virginia 2024

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA – A Randolph County man has been brought to justice for his role in a methamphetamine distribution ring. Edwin Mack Taylor, 54, of Elkins, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi.

According to court documents, Taylor sold methamphetamine, also known as crystal meth and ice, in January 2020 in Randolph County. The Mountain Region Drug Task Force investigated the case and Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner is prosecuting on behalf of the government.

The guilty plea comes as a significant blow to Taylor, who now faces up to 20 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000. However, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Taylor’s decision to plead guilty is a stark reminder of the consequences of involvement in illicit substance trafficking. Law enforcement agencies work tirelessly to root out such activities, and the guilty plea is a testament to their dedication to keeping our communities safe.

The case serves as a warning to those who would engage in similar activities: the law will catch up with you, and the consequences will be severe. This is a victory for the people of Randolph County and a reminder that justice will be served.

As the investigation continues, it is clear that Taylor’s actions had a significant impact on the community. The Mountain Region Drug Task Force and Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner are to be commended for their hard work and dedication to bringing this case to justice.

The guilty plea is a significant step forward in the fight against methamphetamine trafficking in West Virginia. We will continue to work tirelessly to root out such activities and bring those responsible to justice.

U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced the guilty plea, stating, “This case is a prime example of the critical work being done by law enforcement agencies across the country to combat the scourge of methamphetamine trafficking.”
