Methamphetamine Ring Busted in Lower Brule

LOWER BRULE, SOUTH DAKOTA – In a shocking turn of events, three Lower Brule residents have been indicted on methamphetamine charges, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. The indictment alleges that Shanna St. Cloud, 20, Alisha Flute, 20, and Teresa Jandreau, 39, knowingly and intentionally conspired with others to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, in South Dakota.

According to sources, the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuting the case. The charges are merely accusations, and St. Cloud, Flute, and Jandreau are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The indictment was announced by United States Attorney Ron Parsons on September 11, 2018. Flute appeared in court on September 14, 2018, St. Cloud on September 21, 2018, and Jandreau on October 2, 2018, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno. All three pled not guilty to the Indictment.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to life in prison and/or a $10,000,000 fine, a lifetime of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund for each count. Restitution may also be ordered.

St. Cloud was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial, while Jandreau and Flute were released on bond pending trial. A trial date is set for November 27, 2018.

The alleged conspiracy took place between December 1, 2015, and September 11, 2018. The investigation highlights the ongoing struggle against methamphetamine trafficking in the region.
