ERIE, Pa. – Jarrid Brewer, a 25-year-old inmate at the McKean Federal Correctional Institution in Bradford, Pennsylvania, has been handed a harsh sentence after being convicted of possessing contraband in prison.
United States District Judge David S. Cercone imposed the sentence of 24 months in jail on Brewer, according to a statement from United States Attorney David J. Hickton.
The offense, which took place from April to May 2013, involved Brewer being in possession of marijuana and oxycodone hydrochloride, a powerful opioid.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Officers of the McKean Federal Correctional Institution for their tireless efforts in investigating and solving the case, ultimately leading to Brewer’s conviction.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the severity of the consequences for those who attempt to smuggle contraband into prisons.
Brewer’s sentence is a direct result of his actions, which put the safety and security of the prison at risk.
