Darrell Murphy, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Kentucky 2024

Seven individuals have been charged in connection with a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking operation in the Owensboro area, according to federal authorities.

An indictment unsealed this week in U.S. District Court charges Darrell Murphy, 46, of Madisonville, Kentucky, Terry Cook, 43, of Owensboro, Noah Boswell, 39, of Owensboro, William Darmell Murphy, 58, of Owensboro, and Elizabeth Breanne Harris, 39, of Owensboro, with conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine in the Daviess County area between May 27, 2020 and January 27, 2021.

The indictment alleges that the group worked together to traffic massive amounts of the deadly drug, putting entire communities at risk. If convicted, each defendant faces a sentence of 10 years to Life in prison.

A second indictment charges Jamarquius D. Trice, 32, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Jermaine Lee, Sr., 48, of Owensboro, with conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine in the Daviess County area between August 24, 2020, and February 1, 2021.

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett announced the indictment, crediting the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Owensboro Police Department, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for their work in bringing the case to light.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank E. Dahl III is prosecuting the cases. An indictment is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The investigation highlights the ongoing struggle against methamphetamine trafficking in the region, and the need for continued collaboration between law enforcement agencies to combat this deadly threat.
