Methamphetamine Traffickers Get 200 Months Behind Bars
Fort Smith, Arkansas – In a major blow to the state’s narcotics trade, two Texas men were sentenced to a combined total of 200 months in federal prison for their roles in a massive methamphetamine trafficking operation.
According to court documents, Adan Sanchez, 45, of Rosenberg, Texas, and Omar Sanchez-Vasquez, 49, of Guy, Texas, were each sentenced to 100 months in federal prison, followed by four years of supervised release. The sentences were handed down by the Honorable P. K. Holmes, III in the United States District Court in Fort Smith.
The investigation, led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, revealed that Sanchez and Sanchez-Vasquez were involved in the distribution of over 50 grams of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine. The two men were indicted by a federal grand jury on September 16, 2015, and pleaded guilty to the charges in November of the same year.
Assistant United States Attorney Brandon Carter prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States, bringing the suspects to justice and dealing a significant blow to the state’s narcotics trade.
The sentencing is a testament to the hard work and dedication of law enforcement agencies in Arkansas, who continue to crack down on narcotics trafficking and bring those responsible to justice.
The case is a reminder that those involved in the distribution of illicit substances will face severe consequences, and the community can rest a little easier knowing that these two men will be off the streets for the next decade.
