A 48-year-old Mexican national living in the US illegally has been slammed with 27 years in federal prison for his role in a massive methamphetamine trafficking operation in Texas.
Israel Sanchez Arciga, a notorious smuggler, was part of a crew that imported liquid meth from Mexico, cooked it in Texas labs, and then shipped the highly pure dope to users across the state.
On July 14, 2023, feds busted Arciga outside a Rice, Texas, meth lab, where he was caught with a gun.
Arciga pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute meth and was sentenced on April 14, 2026, to 324 months in the joint.
This case is part of the Homeland Security Task Force’s (HSTF) effort to dismantle transnational crime rings operating in the US and Mexico. The HSTF is a whole-of-government initiative that brings together law enforcement agencies to target violent cartels and human trafficking.
