CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – In a federal courtroom in Lincoln, Nebraska, Mia Armani Williams, 22, was handed a two-year probation sentence for misprision of a felony. The sentencing took place on April 14, 2025.
According to the investigation, a Nebraska State Patrol trooper pulled over two nearly identical black Mercedes SUVs with Illinois plates traveling eastbound on I-80 in Seward County on October 1, 2022. The stop led to the arrest of Williams and her co-defendants, Jennilee Velez, Samantha Francisco, and Julany Rivera.
Both SUVs were searched after Williams and Francisco admitted to having marijuana. Authorities found more than 16 pounds of cocaine and 393 oxycodone pills in the SUV driven by Velez, as well as over 24 pounds of cocaine and 66 oxycodone pills in the other SUV.
Phone records revealed that Williams and her co-defendants had traveled from Chicago to Los Angeles to load the drugs into the SUVs. They were headed back to Chicago when they were stopped by law enforcement.
Williams failed to notify authorities about Velez’s illegal activities when initially contacted. Jennilee Velez was previously sentenced to 42 months’ imprisonment and two years of supervised release on April 29, 2024.
