New York – A ruthless drug trafficking network that brought mass destruction to the Finger Lakes region has met its justice. New York Attorney General Letitia James announced the convictions and sentencing of 47 individuals, including Michael Danzey, for their roles in a massive fentanyl and cocaine ring.
In what’s been deemed one of the most significant drug busts in state history, investigators led by the Office of the Attorney General’s Organized Crime Task Force (OCTF) seized over 10 kilograms of fentanyl, more than 10 kilograms of cocaine, 19 firearms, and $440,000 in cash.
The OCTF and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation that culminated in the arrests of the network’s key figures. Michael Danzey, a central figure in the operation, was sentenced to 25 years in prison, plus five years of post-release supervision. His brother, Terrance Raggs, is also implicated in the trafficking.
During the probe, investigators discovered that Danzey attempted to murder an individual he believed had stolen from him, resulting in multiple serious injuries. After the shooting, Danzey sought his brother’s help to conceal evidence.
Ryan Faniel, Romaris Glanton, Karmalus Herrington, Tyquail Raggs, and Aaron Sweeney were among those convicted for selling cocaine and oxycodone in Wayne, Ontario, and Monroe counties. Suppliers like Raquel ‘Ma’ Torres and Jaquinn Edwards, based on Avenue D in Rochester, played a significant role in distributing the drugs.
Luis Rivera and his sons operated a sophisticated cocaine and fentanyl distribution network out of Rochester. Luis Emmanuel Rivera, Natan Rivera, and Jacob Rivera were all involved, with Jacob serving time for his involvement. The Rivera family’s operation was just one of the many intricate webbing that contributed to the region’s drug crisis.
