Micael Dilone Rojas Diaz, Hobbs Act Robbery, Pennsylvania 2024

PHILADELPHIA – In a stunning turn of events, Micael Dilone Rojas Diaz, 25, from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was met with justice yesterday as United States Attorney David Metcalf announced his sentencing to 106 months in federal prison for the armed robbery of a Chester County convenience store. The sentence, handed down by United States District Judge John M. Gallagher, also includes three years’ supervised release, a $1,000 fine, and restitution totaling $518.61.

The defendant, charged with one count of Hobbs Act robbery and one count of using a firearm during a crime of violence, pleaded guilty in June 2024. According to court filings, on February 10, 2024, Rojas and his co-defendant, Ashley Santos-Rodriguez, donned masks and entered the Turkey Hill store on Horseshoe Pike in Honey Brook. Threatening a loaded .40 caliber semiautomatic pistol, they made off with $124 and 40 packs of Newport cigarettes.

Law enforcement caught up with the duo within 20 minutes as they fled the scene in a vehicle. The recovered stolen goods included the cash and cigarettes taken from the store. Pennsylvania State Police and ATF led the investigation that ultimately led to Rojas’ conviction, which was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas M. Zaleski.

United States Attorney Metcalf emphasized the severity of the offense, stating, “The use of a firearm during a robbery is a serious matter, and today’s sentence reflects the seriousness with which this office views such crimes.”

Rojas’ sentence sends a clear message that violent crime will not be tolerated in Pennsylvania, as authorities continue their efforts to protect communities and ensure justice for victims.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by armed robberies and the importance of swift law enforcement action. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.”
