Two Oregon Men Sentenced to Prison for Involvement in Child Pornography Ring
Two men from Oregon and Virginia have been sentenced to prison for their roles in a conspiracy to distribute and possess child pornography, announced Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Criminal Division and U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina Anne M. Tompkins.
Michael Engelking, 37, of Alexandria, Virginia, was sentenced to 210 months in prison and lifetime supervised release. David Large, 50, of Salem, Oregon, was sentenced to 70 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release.
The two men were charged with conspiracy to advertise, distribute, and possess child pornography in November 2010. They pleaded guilty to the charges in July 2011. According to court documents, Engelking and Large were part of a group that shared child pornography on Facebook. The group contained over 10,000 images of child pornography and child erotica.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Violent Crimes Against Children Unit. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Cortney S. Escaravage of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina and Trial Attorney LisaMarie Freitas of the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section.
Engelking and Large must register as sex offenders following their release from prison. In addition, Engelking’s laptop contained violent depictions of children being raped and abused.
