Jamie Plaisance, Child Porn Possession, Louisiana 2015

Jamie Plaisance, 38, of Raceland, Louisiana, has been sentenced to over 10 years in prison for possession of child pornography.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced that Plaisance pleaded guilty to a one-count Indictment charging him with possession of child pornography.

On March 16, 2015, special agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations arrested Plaisance during the execution of a federal search warrant at his Raceland home.

Agents found Plaisance in possession of several items, including an Apple I-Touch and cellular phones that contained images depicting the sexual victimization of prepubescent children.

Plaisance appeared in federal court on March 17, 2015, and was detained by a United States Magistrate Judge.

Plaisance was previously sentenced in federal court to 37 months imprisonment for possession of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors in 2006.

Raymond R. Parmer Jr., Special Agent in Charge of HSI New Orleans, stated that child sexual abuse is one of the most heinous crimes HSI investigates, and that criminals who possess child pornography further victimize the innocent.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

U.S. Attorney Polite praised the work of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security-HSI in investigating this matter.

Project Safe Childhood Coordinator and Fraud Unit Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba was in charge of the prosecution.

Plaisance was sentenced to 121 months imprisonment, followed by a life term of supervised release, and ordered to continue registering as a sex offender.

The court’s decision brings an end to a case that began in 2015 and highlights the ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation and abuse.

As part of the investigation, several items containing images of child pornography were seized, including an Apple I-Touch and cellular phones.

Plaisance’s guilty plea and subsequent sentencing serve as a reminder of the severity of child pornography charges and the importance of continued vigilance in combating this heinous crime.
