Michael Gaudette, Felon in Possession of Firearms, Maine 2017
In a shocking turn of events, Michael Gaudette, a 36-year-old Hiram resident, has been sentenced to 100 months in prison for being a felon in possession of firearms in Maine. This case is a stark reminder of the dangers of repeat offenders and the importance of community safety.
According to the investigation, on May 10, 2017, the Maine State Police executed a search warrant at Gaudette’s property in Hiram, where they seized three assault rifles, a shotgun, and a handgun. Shockingly, three of the firearms were loaded. Gaudette’s prior felony convictions, including attempted robbery, burglary, escape, possession of narcotics, and conspiring to deliver articles to prisoners, made him ineligible to possess firearms.
US Attorney Halsey B. Frank praised the efforts of the Maine State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their role in the case. ‘This case is a prime example of the success of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime in our communities,’ said Frank. ‘We will continue to work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.’
The investigation was conducted as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime. Attorney General Jeff Sessions reinvigorated PSN in 2017 as part of the renewed focus on targeting violent criminals.
Gaudette’s guilty plea on November 28, 2017, marked a significant milestone in the case. His sentence, which includes three years of supervised release, serves as a warning to repeat offenders: the consequences of breaking the law will be severe.
The Grimy Times would like to extend its gratitude to the Maine State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their hard work and dedication to keeping our communities safe.
