ALBANY, NEW YORK – Michael R. Bush, a 48-year-old resident of Fort Edward, New York, has been charged with a heinous crime. Bush, whose address is not publicly disclosed, was found guilty of three counts of receiving child pornography, a crime that has left the community in shock.
According to the investigation, Bush used his phone to download more than 20 image files containing child pornography in October 2016. The disturbing images depicted the sexual abuse of children as young as 3 years old. Bush’s arrest was made on October 21, 2016, and he has been in custody since then.
As part of his guilty plea, Bush admitted to downloading the child pornography files. He is scheduled to be sentenced on August 9, 2017, by United States District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino. Bush faces a minimum of 5 years and up to 20 years in prison, as well as at least 5 years and up to lifetime post-imprisonment supervised release. He will also have to pay a maximum fine of $250,000 and register as a sex offender upon his release.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI, New York State Police, and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph A. Giovannetti is prosecuting the case.
