A 49-year-old DeFuniak Springs man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for attempting to lure a minor into a sex act.
Michael R. Foster, 49, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, was charged with one count of attempted enticement of a minor.
The indictment alleges that Foster attempted to entice, induce, or coerce a minor to engage in a sex act.
A federal grand jury returned the indictment against Foster on March 19, 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) USAO for the Northern District of Florida.
The charges against Foster carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, as well as a term of supervised release of 5 years.
The investigation into Foster’s activities was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Ryan Brown of the Northern District of Florida.
Foster has not entered a plea in the case, which is ongoing.
