Michael Rand, Distribution of Fentanyl, New Hampshire 2022

Rochester Man Sold Fentanyl, Prosecutors Say

A 36-year-old man from Rochester, Michael Rand, has pleaded guilty to selling the deadly drug fentanyl. The crime occurred in the Dover and Rochester areas, according to court documents and statements made in court.

Rand was arrested after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) received a tip in October 2019 that he was selling heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. A cooperating individual helped the FBI arrange a controlled purchase of fentanyl at Rand’s apartment in November 2019.

Court documents show that Rand is scheduled to be sentenced on March 22, 2022. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kasey Weiland.

Fentanyl trafficking endangers lives and damages communities, said Acting U.S. Attorney John J. Farley. We work closely with the FBI and all our law enforcement partners to identify and prosecute the drug dealers who are peddling fentanyl and other dangerous drugs in the Granite State.

The FBI will continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners to stop the distribution of fentanyl and to bring to justice those like Rand who are pushing highly addictive drugs on our streets and into the hands of addicts, said Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Boston Division.

Rand’s guilty plea is a significant victory in our efforts to combat the opioid epidemic and hold accountable those who contribute to it, said Farley. We will continue to work tirelessly to identify and prosecute those who traffic in fentanyl and other deadly drugs.
