Jeremy Colby Vickerson, Oxycodone Trafficking, West Virginia 2015

Oxycodone Trafficking Rocks West Virginia

A 27-year-old man from Canton, Michigan, has pleaded guilty to selling prescription painkillers in West Virginia, authorities announced today. Jeremy Colby Vickerson, 27, sold oxycodone in July 2015 near a video arcade facility in Harrison County, West Virginia.

The illicit sale landed Vickerson in federal court in Clarksburg, where he pleaded guilty to one count of “Distribution of Oxycodone within 100 feet of a Video Arcade Facility.” This serious offense carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison and a fine of up to $4,000,000.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn Adkins prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Street Crimes and Drug Unit, assisted by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, investigated the crime.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided over the court proceedings.

Vickerson’s guilty plea is a significant blow to those involved in the illicit prescription painkiller trade. The consequences of his actions could be severe, with a lengthy prison sentence and substantial fines on the table.
