A Michigan man has been sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for his involvement in heroin distribution in West Virginia, according to a report from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of West Virginia.
Danzavious Dolphus, also known as “Dash,” a 24-year-old from Harper Woods, Michigan, pleaded guilty to one count of “Distribution of Heroin” back in March 2018. The crime took place in June 2017 in Monongalia County.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley handled the prosecution on behalf of the government. The Mon Metro Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, led the investigation.
U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the case. Dolphus has been sentenced to 84 months in prison, the duration of which reflects the severity of heroin distribution in the region.
Heroin distribution has long been a major concern in Monongalia County, with many cases resulting in lengthy prison sentences. The Mon Metro Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force continues to work diligently to combat the issue.
