Huntington, W.Va. – The grim streets of Huntington were hit with a heavy blow as Adrian Demetrius Ludaway, also known as “A1,” 35, from Wayne, Michigan, pleaded guilty today to the harrowing crime of distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine.
According to court documents, on February 27, 2025, Ludaway sold a stunning 28.5 grams of methamphetamine and 6.79 grams of fentanyl to an informant in Huntington. His guilty plea confirms his direct involvement in the deadly transaction.
Scheduled for sentencing on December 1, 2025, Ludaway faces a maximum penalty that could land him behind bars for 20 years, at least three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine. This sentence is more than just punishment; it’s a stark reminder of the consequences of pushing deadly drugs onto our streets.
United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston stood firm in her announcement of Ludaway’s charges, commending the relentless investigative work by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force. These agencies worked tirelessly to crack down on the distribution of synthetic opioids that are ravaging our communities.
Presiding over the hearing was United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers. Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie Taylor is the driving force behind the prosecution of this case, ensuring justice is served for those affected by Ludaway’s actions.
This pivotal case is a part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (SOS), an enforcement surge dedicated to reducing the supply of deadly synthetic opioids in high-impact areas. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia provides further details on this pressing issue through their website, while court documents and information are available on PACER.
