HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – A Michigan man has been handed a seven-year prison sentence for his role in the illegal drug trade in Huntington, West Virginia. Larry Williams Jr., 53, from Pontiac, Michigan, was caught red-handed selling methamphetamine and heroin on February 9, 2023, according to court documents.
The sentencing follows an investigation that revealed Williams had been dealing both drugs to a confidential informant over multiple months. He confessed to transactions on January 31, 2023, and March 16, 2023, solidifying his role as a drug dealer in Huntington.
Law enforcement acted swiftly when they executed a search warrant at Williams’ residence on March 21, 2023. Inside, officers found a staggering amount of drugs: approximately 134 grams of methamphetamine, 15 grams of heroin, 6 grams of fentanyl, and 18 grams of cocaine base, or ‘crack.’ Accompanying the drugs were digital scales, a drug press, and $292 in cash, all indicative of Williams’ intention to distribute.
United States Attorney Will Thompson was quick to commend the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force and the Huntington Police Department for their diligent work. Assistant United States Attorney Courtney L. Finney prosecuted the case with determination, leading to the successful conviction of Larry Williams Jr.
The sentence, imposed by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers, comes as a blow to drug traffickers in the region.
