Miguel Alamo, Cocaine Trafficking, Connecticut 2013
An East Hartford man has been sent down for his role in a major cocaine trafficking operation. 36-year-old Miguel Alamo was sentenced to 96 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for his involvement in the crime.
According to court documents, on April 28, 2010, investigators seized 15 kilograms of cocaine intended for delivery to Alamo as part of an undercover operation. The next day, Alamo was arrested and a search of his East Hartford residence revealed over 12 kilograms of cocaine, as well as drug packaging and processing materials, and $27,840 in cash.
Alamo has been in custody since his arrest on April 29, 2010. He pleaded guilty on June 1, 2011, to one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney Geoffrey M. Stone prosecuted the case.
Alamo’s sentencing was handed down by United States District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport. The case against Alamo is a significant blow to the cocaine trafficking operation in the area.
