TYLER, Texas – In a stunning turn of events, Larry James Hooks, Jr., a 40-year-old resident of Mineola, Texas, has admitted guilt in the Eastern District of Texas for drug trafficking violations. The Department of Justice, through its Office of Public Affairs, announced that Hooks pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine before U.S. Magistrate Judge K. Nicole Mitchell.
According to court documents, Hooks conspired with associates on July 19, 2012, to acquire and disseminate a substantial quantity of methamphetamine across the Eastern District of Texas and beyond. He confessed to being instrumental in distributing over 34.8 grams of pure meth, a substance known for its destructive power within communities.
Hooks was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 27, 2013, alongside two others, for their involvement in the drug ring. The defendant now faces a minimum sentence of five years in federal prison upon his sentencing, whose date remains to be determined.
This case has been meticulously investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Canton Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Baldwin leading the prosecution effort.
