Philadelphia Man Sentenced to 130 Months in Prison for Methamphetamine Trafficking
A 39-year-old man from Philadelphia, Mississippi, has been sentenced to a decade and a half in federal prison for his role in distributing over 50 grams of methamphetamine near the Pearl River Community of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
Darrell McBeath, 39, of Philadelphia, Mississippi, was sentenced in U.S. District Court on May 3, 2024, to 130 months in prison after pleading guilty to possessing with intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine.
The investigation, which was led by the Choctaw Police Department of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, the U.S. Department of Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, uncovered McBeath’s involvement in the distribution of methamphetamine in the area.
“This sentence sends a strong message to those who seek to distribute deadly narcotics in our community,” said U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi. “We will continue to work tirelessly to dismantle these operations and hold perpetrators accountable.”
Assistant United States Attorney Kevin J. Payne and Special Assistant United States Attorney Brian K. Burns prosecuted the case, which was made possible by the efforts of the regional agents from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
McBeath’s sentence is the result of a thorough investigation and a guilty plea entered on December 14, 2023. The indictment was handed down in September of 2023, charging McBeath with the crime.
The case is a testament to the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in the region to combat the scourge of methamphetamine trafficking and keep their communities safe.
