A Niagara Falls man has been sentenced for selling counterfeit goods at his store.
Mohsen Kassem Abdulrab, 58, of Niagara Falls, NY, was convicted of trafficking in counterfeit goods and was sentenced to two years supervised release and fined $2,000 by Chief U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci Jr.
According to the investigation, between January 6, 2014, and February 13, 2014, Abdulrab sold or attempted to sell unauthorized copies of trademarked works at his store, the Hip Hop Center, located at 2417 Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls.
The counterfeit merchandise included UGG, Michael Kors, The North Face, National Basketball Association, National Football League, Major League Baseball, Polo Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Coach, Timberland, and others.
The value of the counterfeit merchandise, if genuine, was more than $40,000.
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly.
Abdulrab’s conviction is a significant blow to those who engage in counterfeiting and trafficking in counterfeit goods.
