Timothy B. Pressey, Child Porn Production and Distribution, Indiana 2000

HAMMOND, Indiana – A monstrous betrayal of trust has led to a life sentence for Timothy B. Pressey, 40, of Monticello. The former babysitter was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Gretchen S. Lund to 300 months in federal prison followed by 20 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to production and distribution of child pornography.

According to court documents, in October 2024, Pressey exploited his position as a caregiver by taking explicit images of a six-year-old child under his supervision. He then shared these sickening images with a group of hundreds on an encrypted messaging platform where they were trading material depicting the violent sexual abuse of children.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was swift in their pursuit of justice, identifying Pressey as the anonymous user within hours and securing a search warrant for his residence. Agents found thousands more images of child sex abuse on electronic devices recovered during the search.

“Timothy Pressey committed a heinous crime against a child who placed their trust in him,” said Acting U.S. Attorney M. Scott Proctor. “The swift and decisive action by the FBI, our state and local partners, and this Office’s dedicated team of prosecutors and staff brought Pressey to justice promptly.”

FBI Indianapolis Special Agent in Charge Timothy O’Malley added, “This sentence reflects the gravity of the defendant’s actions and the FBI’s unwavering commitment to protecting children and holding predators accountable.” The investigation was a collaborative effort between the FBI, Monticello Police Department, White County Sheriff’s Office, White County Prosecutor’s Office, Indiana State Police, and the Indiana Department of Child Services.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative created by the Department of Justice in 2006 to protect children from exploitation and abuse. For more information on this crucial program, visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
