Roland Resident Sentenced to 19 Years for Maiming and Burglary
Morgan Cameron Blanton-Barnes, a 24-year-old Roland, Oklahoma resident, has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for his role in a heinous crime that left a victim severely injured.
According to investigators, on April 23, 2022, Blanton-Barnes broke into the victim’s home while the victim was sleeping and attacked the victim with an electric saw. The victim suffered severe lacerations to the back of his skull and both hands.
The charges against Blanton-Barnes include Maiming in Indian Country and First Degree Burglary in Indian Country. He pleaded guilty to the charges on December 14, 2022.
Blanton-Barnes was sentenced to 235 months in prison for Maiming and 188 months in prison for Burglary, with the sentences to be served concurrently.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the sentencing, stating that the facts of the case are shocking and the sentence imposed is a clear message that the justice system will hold violent offenders accountable for their heinous crimes.
Assistant United States Attorney Kevin Gross represented the United States at sentencing, and Blanton-Barnes will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.
The case was investigated by the Roland Police Department, the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The Honorable John F. Heil, III, U.S. District Judge, presided over the hearing.
