A gruesome stabbing in Adair County has landed Stilwell resident Tassia Ann-Lorene Sellers-Turner in hot water. The 31-year-old woman pleaded guilty to Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm in Indian Country.
The crime occurred on September 9, 2023, when Sellers-Turner stabbed a victim multiple times with a knife, intending to cause serious harm. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was left in a precarious state.
The charge against Sellers-Turner arose from a joint investigation by the Stilwell Police Department, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case has sparked concerns about public safety and the need for effective law enforcement in rural areas.
According to court documents, Sellers-Turner will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing. The Honorable Judge Jason A. Robertson, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered a presentence investigation report.
Assistant United States Attorney T. Cameron McEwen represented the United States in the case. Sellers-Turner’s sentencing details have yet to be disclosed.
