Moss Point Man Admits to Gun Crime
A Moss Point man has pleaded guilty to being an unlawful user of controlled substances in possession of a firearm, a federal crime.
Carlos Jerome Dukes, Jr., 19, of Moss Point, made the admission yesterday before U.S. District Judge Louis Guirola, Jr. in Gulfport.
The case began with a shots fired report on April 5, 2018, in Pascagoula. Pascagoula Police responded to the scene and discovered Dukes and two others with marijuana and two firearms. The gun in Dukes’ possession was reported stolen out of Long Beach, Mississippi.
According to the report, Dukes was with two others when Pascagoula Police arrived at the scene. The officers found marijuana and multiple firearms, including one that belonged to Dukes. The weapon had been reported stolen in Long Beach, Mississippi.
The investigation was conducted by the Pascagoula Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Annette Williams will prosecute the case.
Dukes faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. His sentencing is set for August 30, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. before Judge Guirola.
