GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Kevin Cuevas Del Cid, the notorious MS-13 gang member known by aliases ‘Creeper’, ‘Malcriado’, and others, has pleaded guilty in federal court for his role in two chilling murders on Long Island. The defendant admitted to participating in the May 21, 2016, slaying of Kerin Pineda and the October 10, 2016, murder of Javier Castillo, both in Freeport.
According to court documents, Del Cid lured Pineda out under false pretenses before brutally attacking him with machetes. Pineda was suspected of being a member of rival gang 18th Street. The same year, the MS-13 clique convinced Castillo to go to Freeport, where he too met a violent end at the hands of the gang.
The guilty plea comes as federal agents and local law enforcement have been relentless in their pursuit of the transnational criminal organization. ‘Today, the defendant pleaded guilty to the brutal killings of two young people,’ said U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella, Jr. ‘Our Office remains steadfast in our commitment to hold violent gang members accountable for the fear, destruction, and death they bring to our communities.’
FBI Assistant Director Christopher G. Raia emphasized the gang’s ruthless nature, stating, ‘Del Cid’s attacks reflect the gang’s brutal rhetoric designed to intimidate and punish any perceived threat to its organization.’ Nassau County Police Department Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder added, ‘We have no tolerance for gang violence in Nassau County and we will never stop working to protect our citizens from these violent elements.’
Del Cid is the latest MS-13 member to face justice, with over a half-dozen charged and pleading guilty in connection with the Castillo murder. His sentencing is expected to follow soon.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the relentless efforts of federal and local law enforcement to combat organized crime and protect communities from its terrorizing influence.
