Muldrow, Oklahoma – In a grim turn of events, TERRY WAYNE HYATT, 34, from Muldrow, has pleaded guilty to Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The charge stems from a federal investigation that uncovered the illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced today’s plea deal, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine under Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(e)(1).
HYATT was indicted in November 2014 by the Muldrow Police Department for possessing a firearm that had been shipped and transported in interstate commerce after his previous conviction of a crime with a prison term exceeding one year.
The guilty plea was accepted by Magistrate Judge Kimberly E. West during a hearing at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee. A presentence report has been ordered, and HYATT remains in custody under the watch of the United States Marshal Service.
Assistant United States Attorney Melody Nelson represented the government in this case.
