ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A Dulce woman has been charged with aggravated sexual abuse and abandonment of a child after an FBI investigation revealed allegations that she repeatedly sexually and physically abused minors over several years.
According to court documents, Muniz is charged with aggravated sexual abuse and abandonment of a child and will remain in third party custody pending trial, which has not been set. If convicted of the current charges, Muniz faces up to life in prison.
The investigation was conducted by the Farmington Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, with assistance from the Jicarilla Apache Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eliot Neal is prosecuting the case.
“This case highlights the severe consequences of child abuse and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable,” said U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison. “Our office will continue to work tirelessly to protect the most vulnerable members of our community.”
Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, added, “The FBI is committed to investigating allegations of child abuse and holding those responsible accountable. This case serves as a reminder that we will not tolerate such heinous crimes in our communities.”
