Narciso Maciel, 25, of Moses Lake, Washington, was sentenced to 150 months in prison for his role in a massive methamphetamine trafficking operation in Omaha, Nebraska.
On September 5, 2023, law enforcement conducted a controlled purchase of approximately 1 pound of methamphetamine from Maciel in Omaha. The following month, on October 26, 2023, they purchased another pound of methamphetamine from him.
However, it was on November 2, 2023, that law enforcement served a search warrant of the Airbnb Maciel rented in Omaha and seized more than 8 pounds of methamphetamine, drug packaging, shipping labels, receipts of money wires to Mexico, and $10,146 in United States currency.
During the investigation, authorities learned that Maciel was receiving and storing methamphetamine at the Airbnb in Omaha while also distributing methamphetamine and wiring money to Mexico for the drug trafficking organization.
According to Acting United States Attorney Matthew R. Molsen, Maciel’s sentence is a significant blow to the operation and will help to disrupt the flow of methamphetamine into the community.
Maciel will begin a 3-year term of supervised release after his release from prison, and the currency seized in the operation has been forfeited to the United States.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration as part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation.
