Tahlequah Man Guilty of Firearm Charge in Oklahoma
Nathan Quinn Harrington, 30, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal firearm charge. Harrington is accused of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
On January 23, 2024, Harrington, who had been convicted of a crime punishable by a term of imprisonment exceeding one year, and knowing of that conviction, allegedly possessed a .22 caliber, semi-automatic pistol and ammunition which had been shipped and transported in interstate commerce.
The charges against Harrington arose from an investigation by the Tahlequah Police Department, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan E. Soverly represented the United States in the case against Harrington.
Harrington will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending sentencing. The Honorable Gerald L. Jackson, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
The case is a reminder of the consequences of violating federal firearm laws. As a convicted felon, Harrington is prohibited from possessing firearms, and his actions have serious consequences.
