GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa has announced its participation in National Night Out events across the district on August 5, 2025.
According to U.S. Attorney Timothy T. Duax, National Night Out is a perfect opportunity for neighbors to join with their law enforcement and community partners to demonstrate that crime does not rule the night.
“Keeping our neighborhoods safe is a true team effort. National Night Out allows us to acknowledge the accomplishments of our neighborhood organizations that keep communities safe, and to thank our law enforcement officers for putting their lives on the line for us,” said Duax.
Established in 1984 with funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes partnerships and camaraderie between law enforcement and the communities they serve to make our neighborhoods safer places to live.
Coordinated by local law enforcement and trained volunteers, National Night Out provides an opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. Neighborhoods host block parties, cookouts, festivals, parades, safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and more.
By participating in National Night Out, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa aims to send a message that neighbors are united and working together to keep their communities and each other safe.
