Lincoln Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Possession

Andrew Jose Espinoza, a 43-year-old man from Lincoln, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 15 years and 8 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, a mixture or substance containing cocaine, and a mixture or substance containing marijuana.

According to court documents, Espinoza was contacted by narcotics officers at a Lincoln motel on October 16, 2014, and gave consent to search his room. During the search, officers found approximately 95 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine, approximately one ounce of marijuana, and a small amount of cocaine.

Espinoza admitted to the officers that he knew about the drugs in the room, that he had used methamphetamine just prior to their arrival, and that he was aware there was cash in the room obtained from drug sales.

The case was investigated by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force. United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced the sentencing on October 15, 2015.

Espinoza will serve five years on supervised release following his prison term.

The discovery of the drugs and cash in Espinoza’s motel room marked the culmination of a lengthy investigation by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force.

With a sentence of 15 years and 8 months, Espinoza faces significant time behind bars for his crimes.
