Nelson Travis Alexander, Assault, Montana 2013

A brutal assault in Great Falls, Montana, has left one victim with serious bodily injury.

Nelson Travis Alexander, a 47-year-old resident of Box Elder, Montana, and an enrolled member of the Chippewa Cree Indian Tribe, has been charged with assault.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, on December 2, 2012, Alexander intentionally assaulted K.A., striking her in the face with his closed fists and causing her serious bodily injury.

The assault occurred without warning, breaking her nose, fracturing her jaw, and causing extreme swelling to her face. She was flown to the hospital in Great Falls and hospitalized for several days.

The assault occurred within the exterior boundaries of the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation.

Alexander faces possible penalties of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and 3 years supervised release.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Alexander pled guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury during a federal court session in Great Falls on July 18, 2013, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Keith Strong.

Sentencing has been set for October 22, 2013, and Alexander is currently detained.
