Nevyou Alemu, Possessing Stolen Firearms, West Virginia 2014

Clarksville, West Virginia – In a shocking turn of events, 21-year-old Nevyou Alemu of Gaithersburg, Maryland, was found guilty of possessing stolen firearms.

Alemu, along with co-conspirators Kristopher Seth Davis, 20, and Adesola Vanzant, 21, both of Maryland, stole approximately 14 firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition from a residence in New Milton, West Virginia in April 2014.

The stolen goods were then transported back to Maryland, where the defendants were eventually discovered in possession of a stolen .22 caliber pistol and a 20 gauge shotgun in Doddridge County, West Virginia in April 2014.

Alemu was found guilty of one count of ‘Conspiracy to Possess Stolen Firearms’ and one count of ‘Aiding and Abetting the Possession of Stolen Firearms.’ He faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 on the conspiracy charge, as well as up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 on the possession charge.

Davis and Vanzant previously pled guilty to one count of ‘Aiding and Abetting Possession of Stolen Firearms,’ and each face up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives handling the investigation.
