West Robertson, Ammunition Possession, Connecticut 2014

New London Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Unlawful Possession of Ammunition

West Robertson, also known as ‘Po,’ was sentenced to 120 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for unlawfully possessing ammunition in connection with a shooting in New London.

On May 29, 2014, Robertson became involved in a heated altercation with another individual and shot the victim several times on Maple Avenue, leaving the victim with non-life-threatening injuries.

A video surveillance camera captured Robertson’s girlfriend’s car fleeing the scene, and eyewitnesses identified Robertson as the shooter. Police recovered ammunition shell casings in the area and later seized the firearm used in the shooting.

Robertson, who has multiple state felony convictions for robbery, kidnapping, and possession of narcotics, was arrested on June 6, 2014, and has been detained since then.

In December 2014, Robertson pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of ammunition, which is a federal offense. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Karwan prosecuted the case.

The case was investigated by the New London Police Department, Connecticut State Police, New London State’s Attorney’s Office, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

New London native West Robertson will serve 10 years in prison and perform 200 hours of community service for his role in the 2014 shooting. Robertson’s lengthy history of felony convictions made him ineligible to possess the ammunition used in the crime.
