New Orleans native Robert Hall, aged 24, has been sentenced to 57 months in prison for violating the Federal Gun Control Act. The verdict was announced by U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans following Hall’s guilty plea on June 12, 2024.
Court records detail how an officer with the New Orleans Police Department, assisted by Real Time Crime Center cameras, observed individuals associated with Hall armed with concealed weapons. Upon arrest, Hall was found to be carrying a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun. His prior criminal history included convictions for robbery and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Judge Lance M. Africk imposed the sentence, which also includes three years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment fee. The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence across communities.
Launched in May 2021, PSN focuses on fostering community trust, supporting local organizations, setting strategic law enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes. Hall’s prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney David Haller and Senior Litigation Counsel.
The investigation into Hall was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in collaboration with the New Orleans Police Department.
